Chulo the little Easter Chicken was brought to us with a bad skin condition, by a man who claimed he found him tied up to a post at the motorway, but our guts tell us the story was not the truth.
Chulo the little Easter Chicken was brought to us with a bad skin condition, by a man who claimed he found him tied up to a post at the motorway, but our guts tell us the story was not the truth. Either way, Chulo was happy, cheerful and social from the moment he arrived, so friendly and kind with all our our team & volunteers. He is also polite and social with other dogs, and helps scared dogs come out of their shells, by his calm and supportive presence.
Chulo is positive on the Mediterranean parasite Leishmaniosis, and according the veterinary tests, his skin condition is a result from untreated leishmania, also his low weight is probably due to this. Now he is in treatment and is improving quickly! His future family will still need to continue with the Leishmania treatment, but majority of the work will be done and organised by the shelter and the shelter will also always be available to support his family.
Chulohas really good appetite and he loves to eat! Therefore we are sure he will be in good shape quickly. As he arrived to us really skinny and hungry, then he is is very motivated for snacks, and takes them from your hand a bit too enthusiastically, so that is something he needs education with. He is great with children and walks with families as well in the shelter. Just in case of small children, at the moment, still have to keep an eye on the kids having food in their hands. Once Chulo is well-fed and has no fear of hunger anymore, then we are sure he will be much softer when taking snacks.
Chulo loves to be scratched on his butt, and he enjoys to be touched in general, even giving a bath to him is a pleasant experience. Now he is looking for his forever home, who will continue with his treatment, keep feeding him well, and help him recover to a beautiful fluffy dog that he surely will be. He is very small, only 34cm shoulder height.
