Rocky is a 7-year-old Malinois who has already spent 3 years at the shelter… waiting for his chance and the perfect family for him 🩵. He was rescued from an industrial warehouse when his owner could no longer take care of him.
With people he knows and trusts, he is very affectionate, attentive, obedient, and loyal. He has no problems with strangers as long as they don’t invade his space or bother him when he’s relaxed; with a proper introduction, there is no issue. With his caretakers, he allows people to be near his bed or food, accepts corrections when necessary, and over time he has become more affectionate.
He walks well on a leash, responds to calls, and is not reactive to other dogs. He is used to traveling by car for hours without any problems. At home, he is calm, clean, does not bark or destroy things, and knows how to relax in his bed. After surgery, he spent several weeks in a home and adapted well, although he doesn’t like other dogs approaching his bed or food. He has no issues with crates or metal carriers.
Despite the shelter environment, he remains calm. With a good walk and some playtime with a chew toy, he relaxes easily. He loves swimming in lakes and pools. He is accustomed to mountain outings, which he enjoys a lot. He is not disturbed by noises, cars, or barking dogs. He can stay in cafes or restaurants (under control) after a walk. In busy areas, he always wears a muzzle and a short leash.
He has had some incidents with strangers who invaded his or his handler’s space. We believe he may have received some poorly executed defense training in the past. Nevertheless, with dedication and work, he has improved a lot, and with the help of a professional outside the shelter, he could progress even further.
Rocky does not seek the company of other dogs. He accepts dogs that don’t bother him and can walk with them without problems, but he’s not interested in playing or being very close. He may have conflicts if the other dog is insecure or causes tension. He is physically healthy. He underwent surgery some time ago and has fully recovered.

Adoption:
Rocky needs a family with experience and knowledge of the breed, who has time and energy. A family that enjoys his company and discovers how amazing it is to share life with him.
It’s important to know how to manage his behavior around strangers and be willing to continue socializing him with dogs in a controlled way. He is not compatible with living with children, cats, or other dogs. Ideally, his new home should be in a quiet environment, away from the city noise, and close to the countryside.
If you want to get to know Rocky little by little, we encourage you to come to the shelter, take him for walks as many times as you need, and see if you can become life companions.
