Gizmo is looking for a home with an energetic and playful dog companion waiting 💙 Gizmo was brought to the shelter on 28.12.2021, extremely thin, and is estimated to have been born around February 2021. He has practically spent his entire life in a shelter cage... Gizmo generally gets along well with other dogs, and due to his timid nature, we are looking for a home where there is a lively and playful friend for him to rely on. He loves to run with other dogs. He is looking for a home in the countryside or otherwise in a sparsely populated area with peaceful walking paths, as Gizmo can be startled by loud noises. He is a typical homebody who is not yet used to many situations outside and can be very fearful. When taken outside in the evening, he is often afraid to come back into the house. This happens less during the day, but it can still occur.
Gizmo is shy towards new people, which is mainly expressed through barking. He sometimes barks out of fear, and it is important to understand that in many situations he acts out of fear, definitely not out of malice or aggression. It is crucial to let him get to know new people at his own pace. We are looking for a home that gives him time and safety, ideally a very quiet household where there are no frequent visitors and everyday life is calm and steady. Gizmo is sensitive and easily frightened by sudden movements, so a home without small children would be great and is highly recommended.
Despite his insecurities, Gizmo is a very people oriented dog who seeks closeness as well as protection. Once he feels comfortable and safe, he seeks attention and is comfortable being touched everywhere. If the petting is too intense for his liking, he may leave and return after a while to try again.
Inside the house, Gizmo is a wonderful and uncomplicated companion. He has been housebroken since day one, responds well to his name, and gets along perfectly well with cats. He is very relaxed indoors. In many situations where his family is sitting, eating, cooking, or cleaning, he peacefully lies next to them or in his dog bed and sleeps. He is not an early riser and will not wake you up in the morning. He sleeps a lot, is very quiet, and sleeps through the entire night in his own bed. Furthermore, he can stay home alone very well, even for several hours, remaining completely relaxed somewhere in the house. It is easy to leash him indoors, and he is comfortable wearing both a collar and a harness. He also travels very well in the car. Gizmo truly deserves to find a loving family where he can peacefully learn life skills and build trust in people. He is 60cm tall.
